The beach is an award winning Blue flag area and is considered to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country and has views across to Ramsey Island.

Whitesands is popular with everyone, especially with watersports enthusiasts and families. Surf boards are availalbe for hire and the beach is patrolled by the RNLI. Dog restrictions are in place along the entire length of the beach from 1st May to 30th September. There is ample car parking, a campsite nearby, a Cafe and shop, toilets, a slip way and a first aid post. Be aware of the tides and don't get cut off by an incoming tide at the south end of the beach.
