Newgale Beach is definitely one of the biggest and quite possibly one of the best beaches in Wales. With over two miles of sandy beach exposed to the Atlantic it is a magnet for surfers and other watersport enthusiasts, although just as popular with families and dogs!. The beach is separated from the road and Newgale Valley by a pebble bank.
At high tide Newgale loses its sandy beach and all that is left is the huge pebble bank stretching the length of the beach. At low tide it is possible to walk around to the adjacent beach of Pwll Mawr, although care must be taken not to get cut off by the incoming tide.
There are dog restrictions on Newgale Beach from 1st May to 30th September. The restriction applies to the middle third of the beach (please see beach map for details on where this is) http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/downloads/dog-restriction-beach-maps/newgale-beach-dog-restriction-map.
There are three carparks along the length of the beach, two of which are pay and display. There are toilet facilities in the main carpark.
There is a cafe, pub and shop from where you can hire surf equipment and/or get a lesson.
Lifeguards are on duty on Newgale from June until the end of September.
If you’re planning to visit, check out the tide times to make sure you’ve plenty of beach to play on and that you don’t get cut off by the incoming tide! - See more at: http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/beaches/newgale/
