As we move into late summer, now is the perfect time to book your autumn getaway on the scenic Pembrokeshire coast.

Summer may be our most popular season but those in the know love visiting our spectacular county after the July and August rush.

Autumn is the time of year when the change in seasons is most spectacular, as the woodlands and forests take on their coats of gold, burnt orange and russet.

You’ll also have the benefit of being able to explore without the crowds or the heat of high summer. Plus, you’ll still have plenty of time to make the most of the daylight before the shortest days of winter.

But if you need more inspiration, here are a few of the many reasons why you should book a cottage holiday or short break in Pembrokeshire this autumn…

Invigorating coast path walks

Pull on your walking boots and head to the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast Path to enjoy breathtaking views of the stunning South West Wales coastline.

In autumn, you can savour the rugged maritime beauty with a bracing walk along a section of this incredible 186-mile trail, which stretches from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south.

You’ll find picturesque harbours, wide sandy beaches, and hidden coves. And don’t forget to look out for wildlife, including the Atlantic grey seals that have their pups here at this time of year.

Most of our cottages are within walking distance of the coast path, including Sŵn y Morloi, which overlooks the cliffs at Pwllderi.

Inland walks

While the Pembrokeshire coastline is not to be missed, you’ll also find a wealth of rewarding walks away from the sea.

One of our favourite locations for dramatic views is the Preseli Hills – also known as the Preseli Mountains – a landscape of wild moorland, heath and grassland.

The county is also home to a variety of woodlands, including in the Gwaun Valley, where you can admire stunning autumnal displays.

Near-deserted beaches

Pembrokeshire is blessed with some of the UK’s finest beaches, including Whitesands Bay.

You can truly appreciate the golden stretches of sand and hidden coves at low season, when you may even have these beautiful spaces almost to yourself.

Half-term family breaks

Book yourself some quality family time with a short break or holiday this autumn half-term.

Pembrokeshire offers a wealth of attractions and activities to entertain the whole family, from rockpooling and watersports to boat trips, theme parks and castles.

Our collection of handpicked holiday homes includes a range of family-sized properties, such as Sibrwd Y Clychau, which sleeps eight and is a short stroll from the centre of St Davids.

Romantic retreats

Outside the high season is also the ideal time to book a relaxing break just for two.

Snuggle up in front of a log burner in one of our cosy smaller cottages, such as characterful Glowty’r Felin in the peaceful hamlet of Llanrhian, near Porthgain.

Dog-friendly

Some of Pembrokeshire’s beaches have dog-restricted areas during the summer. But from 1 October, these restrictions are lifted, so your four-legged friend is free to roam across the wet sand, paddle in the surf and explore to their heart’s content.

Many of our holiday lets are dog-friendly, including Wits End, a homely two-bedroom cottage in St Davids, with a log burner and enclosed garden.
