Would you like to be one of the first to stay at The Durham?

This fabulous new holiday home – in St Brides Bay, South West Wales – is now available for you to book for holidays from spring 2022 onwards.

There’s so much to love about The Durham, especially its desirable position in Upper Solva, overlooking Solva Harbour and the scenic Pembrokeshire coast. Its many other attractive features include a wet room, log burner, range cooker, ‘suntrap’ roof terrace, and parking for two cars.

And because The Durham sleeps eight across its four bedrooms, the holiday let has plenty of space for your seaside break with family or friends.

Be one of the first to experience this exceptional holiday home

We couldn’t resist adding The Durham to our portfolio of Pembrokeshire holiday homes.

The three-storey, whitewashed cottage is undergoing a full renovation and refurbishment – ready for your coastal getaway from March 2022 onwards. And you can keep an eye on our website and social media for new images of the property as the work nears completion.

Historic coastal property

Dating from the 19th century, the name ‘The Durham’ is believed to come from a sea captain who once owned the house.

And, according to local folklore, the property has also been known as the ‘Rocket House’.

Why?

As the story goes, there was once a shed outside the house that held the launching signals for the lifeboat from Solva. (There were obviously no mobile phones for alerting people about the need for a lifeboat in those days!)

You can still see the old lifeboat station at the quay in Lower Solva.

Idyllic seaside location

Situated in a peaceful cul-de-sac in Upper Solva, The Durham offers spectacular sea views thanks to its elevated position.

Plus, the cottage is just a short stroll from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path – your gateway to exploring the area’s historic harbours, quiet coves, and wide sandy beaches.

Things to do in Solva and St Brides Bay

Solva has everything you could need for a fun-packed family holiday or a mini-break with friends.

There’s a pretty harbour, crabbing at the quay, a low-tide beach, and a variety of pubs, cafes, takeaways, restaurants, shops, and galleries. There’s also Solva Woollen Mill, while the wider area offers plenty of opportunities for watersports, boat trips and other activities.

Both Lower and Upper Solva are within easy reach of other popular St Brides Bay destinations. These include the tiny cathedral city of St Davids, and Newgale Beach, a two-mile stretch of golden sand, backed by a pebble bank.
