Once the home of the local miller, Bwthyn-y-Melinydd is a 200-year-old traditional stone cottage that has been lovingly renovated and extended.
Situated in the hamlet of Llanrhian, near Porthgain, the pretty two-bedroom holiday home offers you a peaceful, relaxing base, a short walk from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast.
Grade II-listed Bwthyn-y-Melinydd sleeps four, making it a great choice for your family break or romantic couple’s retreat.
Inside, the cottage has been beautifully furnished with the emphasis on comfort, while traditional features include a beamed ceiling, exposed stone walls and slate floors. Plus, you’ll find it snug all year round, thanks to oil central heating and a wood-burning stove.
Bwthyn-y-Melinydd is also the perfect spot for stargazing thanks to its location off the beaten track. All you have to do is step outside and look up. Or why not make an evening of it by wrapping up warm and relaxing under the stars.
From Bwthyn-y-Melinydd, in Llanrhian, you can walk to the scenic the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the trail’s stunning sandy beaches. The cottage is a half-mile walk from Porthgain and the Sloop Inn, and a short drive from the city of St Davids.
And if you’re a fan of astronomy or astrophotography, you’ll find eight Dark Sky Discovery Sites across Pembrokeshire that are waiting for you to explore, including Newgale beach, and Broad Haven. In this beautiful corner of Wales, it’s possible for you to see the spectacle of the Milky Way or the constellations such as Orion.

The open-plan sitting room/dining room features a beamed ceiling, exposed stone wall, wood-burning stove, a comfy sofa and armchairs. There’s a table and chairs seating four, the original range and a Freeview HD television/DVD player. There’s also a selection of guidebooks, novels, DVDs and board games to keep you and your family or partner entertained.
Kitchen
The well-equipped, modern fitted kitchen has an electric oven and grill, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer and microwave. There’s also a radio and an iPod dock.
Utility room
The large utility room includes a sink and drainer, washing machine and tumble-dryer.
Bathroom
Situated on the ground floor, with a bath, separate power shower, toilet and washbasin.
Master bedroom
Double room, on the first floor, with a king-size, iron-framed bed.
Bedroom 2
First-floor twin room, with two single beds and antique furniture.
Outside
A stable door leads out to a large, enclosed back garden, with a patio, garden furniture and barbecue. A side gate leads to gravelled parking for two cars.
