Step back in time, while enjoying all the comforts of modern living with a stay at five-star Melin Llanrhian.
Located on the edge of the peaceful hamlet of Llanrhian, near Porthgain, this beautiful stone watermill has been tastefully renovated to create an idyllic three-bedroom holiday cottage.
The 19th-century, grade II-listed property offers you a relaxing rural getaway, within easy reach of the Pembrokeshire coast. Built in 1827, Melin Llanrhian was treated to a further conversion in 2018 to create the spacious yet cosy holiday let that is waiting to welcome you. It’s perfect for a couple, family or friends, and your four-legged friends are welcome too.
Outside, you’ll find a restored stone-built mill pond, where the water was redirected from the stream and released on to the head race over the wheel. What’s more, you can view the original mill machinery, which is displayed behind glass in the sitting room.
Melin Llanrhian, which now sleeps six, boasts two wood-burning stoves, a new, fully-fitted kitchen, and an attractive sunroom, situated over the waterwheel. The sunroom’s large, bi-fold glass doors allow sunlight to stream in, and these doors open to a terrace with lighting and garden furniture. Here you can enjoy a view of the garden and its array of birdlife, and there’s an extra set of French doors that open to a gravel area.
And why not swap a night in for an evening under the stars? The secluded rural location makes Melin Llanrhian the ideal place to enjoy a spot of stargazing. Grab a blanket and a warm drink, and gaze at the wonders of the clear skies above.
Also, if you’re planning a holiday with a larger group, the neighbouring cottage, Glowty’r Felin, can be booked with Melin Llanrhian.
Melin Llanrhian is situated in a quiet, rural location in the hamlet of Llanrhian, near the picturesque coastal village of Porthgain.
Here, the night skies are free from light pollution. In fact, Pembrokeshire is a must-see destination if you’re a seasoned astronomer or are new to stargazing. The county has eight Dark Sky Discovery Sites, including Garn Fawr, near Strumble Head; and Sychpant picnic site in the Gwaun Valley, near Newport. Gaze at the night sky and you might see the spectacle of the Milky Way or the constellations such as Orion.
