Y Bwthyn Bach Gwyn
Y Bwthyn Bach Gwyn
Holiday Cottage, Solva, Pembrokeshire
Y Bwthyn Bach Gwyn (Welsh for ‘little white house’) is a hidden gem tucked away in an idyllic location in Upper Solva, a short stroll from the picture-postcard harbour.
The charming, whitewashed cottage has been lovingly renovated and refurbished, transforming it into a gorgeous romantic hideaway.
You will find character at every turn in the grade II-listed property, from the stable-style front door to the exposed brickwork.
Ideal for two (and a baby), the one-bedroom cottage features a cosy log burner, making it a welcoming retreat for your coastal break any time of the year.
The spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path is on your doorstep, along with Solva’s low-tide beach, pubs, cafes, shops and galleries.
You will also be in the perfect position for exploring the county’s many other attractions, like the historic city of St Davids, the Blue Lagoon, and fantastic beaches such as Newgale.
Sitting in Upper Solva’s High Street, Y Bwthyn Bach Gwyn is a stone’s throw from the scenic Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
From Upper Solva you can enjoy stunning views across St Brides Bay. And the cottage is minutes from Lower Solva, where children (and grown-ups) can explore the fascinating rock pools at low tide or while away a few hours crabbing.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink thanks to the bustling community’s cafes, tearooms, pubs and takeaways. We also recommend browsing the art galleries and independent shops.
And when it comes to exploring further afield, you can choose from an enticing range of visitor attractions, outdoor activities and natural gems. There is the cathedral in St Davids, watersports galore, not to mention castles, sandy beaches, hidden coves and pretty quays.

Open-plan lounge/kitchen
Enter the cottage through the pretty, stable-style front door, which leads into the homely, open-plan lounge and kitchen.
Full of original character, the lounge features exposed brickwork and a cosy log burner, as well as a large, comfy sofa and armchair, a TV with Freeview and a DVD player.
The stylish, fully fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. There is also a dining table and chairs for two.
Shower room and toilet
A step leads down to the shower cubicle and washbasin, and there is a separate room with a toilet and washbasin.
Bedroom
A few steps lead up to the sumptuous double bedroom, nestled in the eaves. It has a king-size bed, bedside tables and lamps, dressing table, chairs and hanging space. (But please note the bedroom has sloping ceilings and restricted headroom.)
Outside
Relax at the table and chairs in the attractive gravelled area at the front – a pleasant spot to sit on a summer’s day or evening. (And while there is public access through the gravelled area, it is very quiet.)
There is no designated parking, but we have arranged parking for you in the residential street behind the cottage (we will send you details when you book).
You are welcome to bring one dog to enjoy your stay with you but please note the garden area is not secure. We also ask that you do not leave your dog alone in the cottage or allow it onto the furniture.
And because the mobile phone service and WiFi can be patchy, you have the perfect excuse to ‘unplug’ and unwind in this stunning corner of Wales.
